The Marshall Tigers subdue the Belle Plaine Tigers, clinching a finals berth

The battle of the Tigers, between the Belle Plaine Tigers and the Marshall Tigers, was won three sets to one by the Tigers from Marshall, Minnesota. Marshall won the first two sets, gave up the third set and clinched the match winning the third set 20-25. The Marshall team will advance to the Section AA championship game on Saturday November 10 against Caledonia.

Although the final score read 3-1 the game was much closer. Belle Plaine scored at least 20 points in each set (the first team to 25 wins) and took played Marshall to a 25-27 second set.

Belle Plaine entered the game with a 25-7 record while the Marshall tallied a slightly better 26-5 season record.

Belle Plaine had five seniors on their team who played their last game. The Belle Plaine Tigers also have three eighth graders and a ninth grader who gained valuable experience at the state tournament. Look for the Belle Plaine Tigers to make a run next year.
