Minnesota Gophers end 53 year losing streak to Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Minnesota Golden Gophers shocked Husker fans and the country by defeating the Nebraska Cornhuskers 34-23 on a brisk Saturday afternoon on October 26, 2013.  The Cornhuskers, entering the game, had not lost to the Gophers since 1960.

The Gophers dominated play in almost every facet of the game.  Minnesota converted a fourth down by hitting Chaska native Derrick Engel for a 33 yard touchdown pass to put the Gophers up 14-10 early in the second quarter.  The Gophers did not look back and did not trail the rest of the game.

Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill coached from the press box, allowing defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys to manage the sidelines.

The Gophers will travel to Indiana to face the Hoosiers next.  Their next home game is against Penn State on November 9, 2013.  Stay tuned to The Minnesota Sports Report for updates and news from the land of 10,000 lakes.
