St. Paul, Minn—-During the 2013 MSHSL Boys and Girls Track and Field State Tournament, the boys class AA pole vaulting competition saw a new state record. Mitchell Valli, a senior out of Buffalo High School vaulted to an impressive 15’ 7 ½” to set the new state record which was previously held at 15’ 7”.
After setting that record, Valli had the bar raised to 16’ 1” to break his own record. The crowd was truly behind Mitchell as they clapped in unison to his three attempts at 16’ 1”. Unfortunately, the senior from Buffalo was unable to break his own record.
The runner-up, senior Connor O’Neil of Stillwater, finished with a vaulting height of 15’ even. Third place went to, senior William Kolb of Rochester Century.
