The Minnetonka Skippers sink the Hopkins Royals in homecoming shutout

The Minnetonka Skippers give their homecoming crowd a brilliant performance shutting out the visiting Hopkins Royal 35-0.  From the opening minute all the momentum (including close calls and bounces) went Minnetonka’s way.

Minnetonka quarterback, Nick Rooney, completed 15 of 24 passes for 214 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.  According to MN Football Hub, Rooney had a quarterback rating of 130.9.  Duff Smith recovered his own onside kickoff to help put the game out of reach in the second quarter.

The Skippers’ offense has been dominant this year with QB Nick Rooney passing for over 1,200 yards on the season with a .625 completion rate.  RB Jason Witherspoon has rushed for 278 yards on the season, averaging 5.2 yards per carry.  Receivers Braden Sikes has 331 yards with an average yards per catch of 12.7, Mitch Felknor 539 and 17.4 yards/catch and nine touchdowns.
