Huskies shut down Warrior offense to close 32 year Metrodome era

The Brainerd Warriors and Owatonna Huskies met at the Class 5A Prep Bowl on November 30, 2013 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the final Prep Bowl game of the 2013 season, the final Prep Bowl ever at the Metrodome.

Owatonna emerged victorious by a 24-0 margin after a dominant defensive effort, limiting the Warriors to just 187 yards of offense, stopping the bread-and-butter rushing game of the Warriors to just 89 yards on the night.  The Huskies offense performed just as a number one-seeded team would be expected to, amassing 369 total yards, 233 of them on the ground behind a bruising rushing game.

With one loss between the teams, the undefeated Huskies relied on a balanced combination of bruising running and crisp passing to shred opposing defenses throughout the season.  The Warriors’ rushing had been the stalwart of their offense all year but was shut down in the Prep Bowl by a prepared Huskies’ defense.

Owatonna, with the win, closes a 32 season era of Prep Bowls at the Metrodome that started in 1982 with the Owatonna team (the Indians then) losing to the Stillwater Ponies.
