Throughout the 2013 MSHSL playoffs the Wildcats had outscored their four opponents 147-62 (85 points) while the Crusaders rolled over their opponents 197-110 (87 points) and, going into the game, it looked to be a close game.

The Crusaders scored the next 16 points in the game on six plays and looked to have the game well under control.
