The Class AAA Prep Bowl pitted the St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders against the New London-Spicer Wildcats.  Both teams entered the 2013 Prep Bowl finals having won the Prep Bowl since 2009 and both teams had a 2013 record of 12-2.

Throughout the 2013 MSHSL playoffs the Wildcats had outscored their four opponents 147-62 (85 points) while the Crusaders rolled over their opponents 197-110 (87 points) and, going into the game, it looked to be a close game.

In the 25 possessions of the game only five punts drives ended in punts, none on field goals and 13 drives ended with touchdowns.  The two teams combined for a total of 971 total yards on the game and scored 92 points.

The 92 combined points sets a new record for most points in a game, surpassing the 91 points put up in the 2006 Class AA Prep Bowl and the 2010 9 Man Prep Bowl.

The halftime score of the game was 20-20 and the teams seemed pretty evenly matched.  After the third quarter the score was 28-26 with the Wildcats on top after quarterback Ryan Vraa found Adam Essler on a 37 yard pass and catch with a two point conversion.

The Crusaders scored the next 16 points in the game on six plays and looked to have the game well under control.  New London-Spicer scored with five minutes in the game to bring the score within eight at 42-36 but the teams would trade touchdowns to end the game and win their second Prep Bowl in three years.
