It was a crisp winter night on January 4, 2013. Shakopee residents may have been surprised to hear bees buzzing around town. These were no ordinary bees; Canterbury Park was transformed into a winter motorsports extravaganza as the AMSOIL Championship SnoCross series took over the complex. The buzzing sound was the sound of two dozen sleds speeding around the oval track.

The horseracing track was replaced with mountains and valleys of snow launching ri

ders 15-20 feet in the air. Both professionals and amateurs took to the same track to enjoy the exhilaration of speeding around a sled with other snowmobile enthusiasts, enjoying the temperatures in the teens.

The professionals ended the long day of racing. Tucker Hibbert took the professional class (custom modified sleds) main event and Travis Muller took the crown for the stock sled Pro Light final.

Stop in on Saturday January 5 and Sunday January 6 for more SnoCross action. Stay tuned to The Minnesota Sports Report and Examiner.com for more Minnesota sports news.
