Minnesota Swarm trade Andrew Watt and Ryan Benesch for draft picks

In a shocking move the Minnesota Swarm have traded sniper Ryan Benesch and transition player Andrew Watt to the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for a first-round draft pick in each of the 2015 and 2016 drafts and a 3rd round pick in the 2017 draft.

This move comes as a surprise to many Swarm faithful as the team had relied on Benesch’s leadership last year and will be replacing him with future draft picks.

Swarm owner, John Arlotta, thanked Benesch and Watt for their efforts and said of Benesch, “Ryan was a critical part of our franchise the last four years, and not only brought scoring to the team, but he was also a great leader off the floor.

Benesch leaves the Swarm as their all-time leading goal scorer and added 34 goals and 50 assists in the 16 game 2013 season.  Watt leaves the Swarm ranked number one in short-handed goals and tied for first in team history in forced turnovers.  He picked up 312 loose balls in his Swarm career spanning 68 games.
