Minnesota native and motocross superstar Ryan Dungey returns to his home state for two events the final weekend in July.

The first is the Red Bull Spring Creek National Motocross race in Millville, Minnesota on Saturday July 27, 2013.  The next day Dungey will be partnering with Target to raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the Minnesota Major River-to-River Ride that will take participants either 20 or 62 miles around the scenic St. Croix River valley.

The Red Bull Spring Creek National Motocross event in Millville, Minnesota will feature both Ryan Dungey and rival Ryan Villopoto who, have place either first or second in six of the eight races in the 2013 racing series so far.  Villopoto leads the point standings with 380 points while Dungey has 338 points going into the Spring Creek race.

Dungey needs to win on home soil to stay in the hunt with the surging Villopoto, who currently hold a two race win streak and has not finished off the podium in 2013.

Dungey will complete Saturday’s race , head to bed for a few hours then host the 2013 Minnesota Major River-to-River Ride to raise funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  If you would like to donate to the cause and enjoy a Minnesota Summer Sunday along with the riders the event will start and finish at Afton Apple Orchard in Hastings, Minnesota.  Event information can be found here at the Minnesota Major website.

Dungey turned professional in 2006 and has been taking the dirt bike racing world by storm since winning both Supercross and Motocross championships at the 450 cc class in his first year in the class, 2010.  He was named 2012 Transworld Motocross Rider of the Year and returns home to race for the second time in 2013, having won the Supercross race in April 2013.
