On August 31, 2013 the Minnesota Twins trade their long-time, fan favorite first baseman Justin Morneau to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates will send outfielder Alex Presley and a player to be named later.
Justin Morneau leaves the Twins ranked third in home runs (221) behind Harmon Killebrew and Kent Hrbek. He also has 1,318 hits and 860 RBI. He was drafted in 1999 and has spent his entire career with the Minnesota Twins’ organization. He was named American League MVP in 2006 and, with teammate Joe Mauer, led the Twins for almost a decade.
