The Minnesota Gophers squeeze out a victory against the Purdue Boilermakers on their 100th homecoming football game. Minnesota’s Santoso kicks the winning field goal with five minutes left in the game to put the Gophers up by one at 39-38.
With the win the Gophers have opened up the Big Ten schedule with three consecutive victories and have a 6-1 record on the year. Most notable was the passing attack that came out of nowhere last week and has continued to develop. Sophomore QB Mitch Leidner passed for 165 yards and two touchdowns, one to Maxx Williams and the other he ran in.
David Cobb rushed for almost 200 yards (194) and added a touchdown to his season total, he how has over 1000 yards on the year (1013 yards) and is well on his way to his best season, he rushed for 1202 yards in 2014.
The Minnesota Gophers celebrated their 100th homecoming this year and the victory is their first since the Gophers defeated Purdue in 2009. With the win, the Gophers improve to 6-1 on the season and become bowl eligible with five games still remaining in the schedule.
