Chaska sweeps Bemidji in straight sets to advance in MSHSL volleyball

The first game of the Class AAA Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Girls’ Volleyball Tournament pitted the number one seed Chaska Hawks against the Bemidji Lumberjacks. Chaska dominated play, sweeping the Lumberjacks in straight sets, 25-10, 25-11, 25-19, cruising to a spot in the semifinals on Friday, November 7, 2014.

The Hawks were led by Erin Schindler, whose 16 kills and 17 assists put her square in the offensive action. She was joined, in the double-digit kills department by teamates Sarah Kelly (15) and Lauren Nordvold (10). Chaska’s assist quees was Makayla Wenzel, whose 40 assists and 0 errors led the team – the next closest was Schindler with 17.
