Lakeville North advances to Boy’s Hockey Semifinals defeating Roseau in overtime

The MSHSL Class AA Hockey Tournament opened on March 6, 2014 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.  There are expected to be as many as 100,000 high school hockey fans descending on St. Paul over the four-day tournament, which kicked off with the Class A quarterfinals on March 5.

The opening game featured the unseeded Roseau Rams against the number 2 seed Lakeville North Panthers.  The action packed game went into overtime before Lakeville North Freshman Henry Enebak launched a wrist shot past Roseau’s Ryan Anderson.  In fact the shot has so much zip on it that the puck was back out of the net as fast as it went in, causing a moment of confusion before the Panther skaters surrounded him in jubilation.

The game was an extremely close game as it took until the 28th minute before the Rams’ Alex Halstensgard scored.  The Poehling line from Lakeville North scored next when Nick and Ryan (Poehling) assisted their brother Jack Poehling as he scored less than a minute after the Rams’ goal.

The next goal would be in the second minute of overtime when Enback clinched the game for the Panthers.

The Lakeville North Panthers will face the Eden Prairie Eagles at 6:00 pm on Friday March 7 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
