St.Paul, MN in this class AAA state championship match it would pin the champions of section 2 and the top seeded Lady Hawks of Chaska against the champions of section 3 and the third seeded Wildcats of Eagan. This is match up of titans in volleyball as between the two schools they have 11 state titles
In game 1 Chaska would get on the board 1st and it would take a 2-0 then Eagan would get on the board. Chaska would use a big Kill by Lauren Nordvold to keep Chaska up by 2 in the early stages of the match. Chaska would keep building on its lead with big plays and solid defense getting its lead to 7-2. Chaska would keep getting the big plays forcing Eagan to call a time out. A big spark was provided by Erin Schindler making the score 17-5. Chaska was up 18-5 before Eagan would start to mount a comeback in the game. Chaska would look in control the entire game as Chaska won game 1 25-17.
In game 2 Chaska would score 1st but Eagan would quickly respond. Then Eagan would go up by 2. Chaska would get a big kill by Sarah Kelly and Eagan would go back up by 2 but then Erin Schindler would provide a big kill that would rally Chaska to tie the game at 5. Chaska would take a 12-9 lead forcing Eagan to call a time out. Chaska would gain control on kills by Sarah Kelly and Erin Schindler. Chaska had solid defense and came up big with key points taking game 2 by a score of 25- 19 on a hitting error by the Wildcats putting the Wildcats down 2 game to 0 and in a must win game 3.
In game 3 it was just like the other 2 games Chaska would get out to a quick lead and was looking strong out playing the Wildcats on both sides of the net. Eagan would start to rally as Chaska made a few mistakes that Eagan was able to score off. But when Eagan would get close Chaska would flex its muscles. Chaska would give Eagan a few points on errors that let the wildcats tie the game. Chaska needed a big point it would be scored by Liz Hoppe tying the game with a big kill. Chaska would gain control on a big kill by Sarah Kelly. It was going back and forth Chaska would be up by 2 then Eagan would rally then Chaska would go on a run when Chaska need a point it seemed to end up on a big kill by Sarah Kelly or Erin Schindler. Chaska would win the Championship on a big kill by Sarah Kelly winning game 3 25-21 and sweeping the Wildcats.
Chaska Finishes the year 30-3 and Eagan finishes the year 26-6. In this match Chaska out hit Eagan .198 to .348 the only stat Eagan was statically better was Eagan had 5 blocks to Chaska’s 4.
