Game two of the 2014 WNBA Western Conference Finals between the Minnesota Lynx and the Phoenix Mercury was set to tip off at 2:30 on Sunday August 31, 2014. The Lynx trailed in the series 1-0 after being routed in game one at Phoenix 85-71.
The Lynx entered the game with a home playoff record of 15-2 and needed the home court advantage to come up strong for them as a loss would end their 2014 season.
Lynx fans were disappointed for the majority of the game but late in the fourth quarter Seimone Augustus and Maya Moore took the team on their shoulders (with excellent rebounding by Janel McCarville and Rebekkah Brunson) and led the team to an 82-77 victory.
The Lynx could not hit a shot for anything in the first quarter, shooting 2-14 (14%) and trailing by 22-9 at the end of the quarter. The Lynx did not lead at all until 6:20 in the 4th quarter when Augustus hit a layup to put the Lynx up by one.
