New cars and new contender highlight the Trans Am Series as it moves into the last four races of the season. Dodge has made it’s presents known with current TA2 champ Cameron Lawrence in the number 1 Miller Racing Dodge Challenger. Joining Lawrence at Miller is past TA champion Tommy Kendall. Minnesota connections at BIR this weekend are the Archer Racing from Duluth with Tommy Archer leading the team of three Chevy Camaros. Derhaag Racing based in Shakopee is fielding a Corvette for past TA Champ Simon Gregg. In TA3 driver Tim Gray from Eden Prairie has moved into a Camaro for the 2014 season
n TA, Doug Peterson, driver of the No. 87 3Dimensional.com Chevrolet Corvette, has managed to extend his points lead in his pursuit of a consecutive TA class Championship with two wins in the last two races at Mid-Ohio and Road America. The victories have increased his points lead to 33 over runner-up Simon Gregg, in the No. 59 Derhaag Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette, who leapfrogged third place holder Amy Ruman, in the No. 23 McNichols Chevrolet Corvette, at Mid-Ohio, albeit by just one point.
The Pirelli World Challenge makes its first trip to Brainerd, with the Touring Car, Touring Car A and Touring Car B-Spec classes competing in the Brainerd International Raceway Brought To You by Kia weekend. The three classes run a pair of 40-minute sprints this Saturday and Sunday for Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2014 season.
