Eden Prairie, MN
The Eden Prairie Eagles boys lacrosse team hosted the Chanhassen Storm for the Region 2AA semifinals in boys lacrosse.
The Eagles, with a 10-3 overall season record, and a 6-2 record in the Lake Conference (second to Wayzata), played the Metro West Conference Storm with a 10-3 overall record and a 5-1 conference record (second to Bloomington Jefferson). Although both teams are even on paper, appearances are not always what the seem to be as the Metro West conference is not nearly on par with the Lake Conference, which has powerhouse teams like Wayzata and Edina.
The first quarter started out pretty evenly with both teams getting shots on goal and running tight defenses. However, it within the first quarter, the Eagles started pulling away with superior, aggressive defense, and the ability to repeatedly feed passes from the goal line extended (GLE) to open attackmen, some virtually uncovered in front of the goal.
In the end, it was only a question of how big a lead Eden Prairie would take, winning the game 14-5.
Eden Prairie next meets the Edina Hornets, who beat the Minnetonka Skippers 12-11, for the Region 2AA Championship on Wednesday, June 3 at Armstrong High School in Robbinsdale. Game time is 7.00 pm, preceded by the 5.00 pm girls championship between Eden Prairie and Minnetonka.
