Photo finish caps exciting Mystic Lake Mile race at Canterbury Park

There are very few moments in sports more exciting than the last 100 yards of a close horse race…especially when the race is a three way photo finish.

This is exactly what the racing fans were treated to on July 11, 2015 at Canterbury Park as the $100,000 Mystic Lake Mile race came down to the end.  As Red Zeus flashed up the outside, Pumpkin Rumble and AZ Ridge battled along the rail in a three horse race in the final 100 yards.  Pumpkin Rumble would edge out AZ Ridge by a nostril as the two horses stride for stride in the final moments of the race.

The 23rd running of the $100,000 Lady Canterbury Stakes was run on the fast turf track and did not dissipation.  Kitty Wine, the pre-race favorite,

won by a length or two.  Jockey Corey Lanerie rode Kitty Wine to victory with Notte D’oro and Julie Darlin placing 2nd and 3rd.

Lanerie had a great day at Canterbury Park, his first day at the race track, winning both stakes races.

Next week is extreme race day at Canterbury Park.  Make plans to head down there to see a full day of horse racing as well as ostrich, camel and zebra races…those races never disappoint.
