Team USA defeats Team Europe, finishing strong in singles match play on October 2, 2016 on a picture perfect day in Chaska, Minnesota.  The Singles Match format produced some amazingly exciting golf with crowds and players alike becoming engrossed in the emotions of the match.

Because every hole was essentially a new, fresh game, the matches took on an air of drama rarely seen on the PGA tour where composure rules the day.  Fans and players were composed but wore emotions openly on their sleeves, providing a spectacularly electric atmosphere on the course.

At 8:00 a.m., throngs of golf enthusiasts were already lining fairways, greens and stands, a full three hours before the scheduled first tee shot.  Chants of “USA, USA, USA” arose from along event the most remote of the meticulously manicured greens of Hazeltine National Golf Course.

The match of the day was between Patrick Reed (U.S.) and Norther Ireland’s Rory McIlroy.  Both golfers fed off an energetic crowd and through fist-pumping, finger wagging and good old-fashioned friendly competition, the two crushed the course and played off of each other’s play and the crowd’s reaction to it.

At the end of the day, Team USA held on to their lead and defeated Team Europe 17-11 for the three days of competition.  It will be another two years before the Ryder Cup descends on France and the Europeans have a chance to re-capture the 90 year old trophy.

Here are the pairings (and winners) from the final day of the 41st Ryder Cup, which saw Team USA re-capture the cup from Team Europe by a score of 17-11.
