Brainerd International Raceway set for 100 mile Trans Am race

The Independence Day weekend has long been a tradition for fans at Brainerd International Raceway, and this year the 31st Annual PleasureLand RV Show & Go will not dissapoint.  With drag racing, road racing, a classic car show and tons of fireworks (worth the price of admission alone) will have something for everyone.

The main event is the Ryan Companies Independence Day Classic, a 100 mile (40 lap) Trans Am Series presented by Pirellli race that will take over the 2.5 mile road coarse at Brainerd and is set to start at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday July 2.

Jed Copham from Brainerd, Minnesota put his BCRaceCars/TesarEngines/BIR Chevrolet Corvette on the second row for Sunday’s Trans Am feature. Jed posted the fourth fastest time in Saturday’s qualifying.

In the ultra competitive Trans Am 2 category two Minnesotans qualified in the top ten. Shannon Ivey from Rogers Minnesota stepped out of his vintage ’68 Camaro and put the Speedlogix Dodge Challenger eighth on the grid. Eden Prairie’s Tim Gray qualified his Ryan Companies Ford Mustang in the tenth spot.

BIR has a special $10 admission for Sunday only with a coupon available at the Nitro Square gas station right outside the BIR gate and many other businesses along Hwy 371 near the track.
