The Minnesota Lynx spread the ball around, defeating the New York Liberty 90-71 in the first game of an East Coast road trip on May 18 at Madison Square Gardens in New York City.

  • Rebekkah Brunson, 11 points in 21 minutes.
  • Maya Moore, 16 points in 33 minutes.
  • Sylvia Fowles, 12 points in 33 minutes.
  • Lindsay Whalen, 12 points in 25 minutes.
  • Seimone Augustus, 11 points in 28 minutes.

Also notable:  Rebekkah Brunson snagged four rebounds in the game, leaving her with 2,999th rebound in her career.  She is hoping that their next game, on Saturday, May 20, at Dallas, will make her the fifth player in WNBA history to reach the 3,000 rebound mark.

Maya Moore continues to be hot, leading the team in scoring with 16 points, picking up 11 rebounds and six assists.  Moore said of the balanced scoring, “When everyone gets involved and we have that balanced scoring it’s a great thing for us.”

Minnesota’s bench was the difference in the game, outscoring New York 28-17 with strong performances by Natasha Howard (7 points, 1 block, 2 rebounds) and Renee Montgomery (7 points, 2 blocks, 2 assists and a rebound).
