The Minnesota Gophers started their 2018 season with a convincing 48-10 win over the Aggies of New Mexico State.

The team will have some growing pains once the Big Ten season starts. Head coach P.J. Fleck said, in the post-game press conference, that the team played 24 freshman in the game, saying “we got a lot of players playing time.” The exciting thing to see with the team is that, in the words of P.J. Fleck, he saw “culture throughout” and with 70% or more of the team being undergraduates, the team has an opportunity to build that all important culture as they grow together.
The thing that stuck out to me was that when wide receiver, Seth Green came in (both times) and scored a touchdown, starting quarterback, Zack Annexstad was the first to congratulate him, as was senior running back Rodney Smith.
It will be fun to see how this team comes together this year. “All I want to see from this football team is growth…every day” said Fleck, and this team took a big step in their first game of the year.
